Research, management and conservation of biological heritage in tropical regions are the main objectives of the Institute for Tropical Biodiversity. The intrinsic purpose is to promote respect for the natural heritage, using this, when necessary, as a source of wealth and development of ethnic and human communities, particularly in countries called 'developing'.
The Institute for Tropical Biodiversity and Extreme Environments (IBT) is a pioneering project in Europe. We work in the scientific, educational and sustainable development cooperation between Europe and countries in tropical regions and extreme environments.
The aim is to conserve and restore the biological wealth, provide channels for the dissemination and environmental and cultural awareness and promote scientific exchange, unifying common criteria and guidelines for action, encouraging research, training and information exchange among individuals, groups, organizations and universities working in favor of biodiversity.
Specifically, the Institute is dedicated to:
- International Research and academic training in the field of natural sciences, including areas such as agriculture and ethnology.
- Promote international cooperation (human, technical and economic) in the areas of research, management and conservation of biodiversity, particularly in countries denominated in "developing."
- Promote, channel and structure the BioTourism (nature tourism, conservation and / or scientific), anticipating the new dynamics of tourism that respects the heritage and involved in preserving natural and cultural values.
- Assist and train in methods and agricultural training for co-development.
